This narrowband image of the north American nebula was taken by Houston based astronomer Dick Locke Image using a Takahashi FSQ-85 refractor and AP 900 Go To mount. The image comprises 6.25 hours total exposure, consisting of 39*5 Ha frames and 36*5 O3 frames using an SBIG ST-8300m CCD camera and FW8_8300 filter wheel fitted with Astrodon 36mm narrowband filters.The Ha frames compose the red channel, with the O3 frames making the blue and green channels, followed by subjective adjustments in Photoshop CS5.
