Holmberg IX is a dwarf irregular galaxy and a satellite galaxy of Messier 81. The galaxy is namedafter Erik Holmberg, whofirst described it.It is thought to have formed within the last 200 million years making it the youngest nearby galaxy to ours.This image was taken on 27th April 2011 in southern Spain and is an LRGB of 40:30:30:30 minutes using an SBIG ST10 XME CCD camera and a C14 telescope.
