At first he must have thought it was Santa - but it turned out to be a civilian aircaft. On 16th December, while taking some pictures of the Moon during an all too brief break in the clouds and rain, Paul Brierley, Observing Co-ordinator of the Macclesfield Astronomical Society captured this interesting photo. It seemed to be a fitting way to end 2012, and from the observing galleries I wish everyone clear skies, a very Happy Christmas, and a safe New Year. Image details are a William Optics ZS66sd plus modified Canon 1000D at 1/80th second exposure.
