So, having been doing some spectroscopy for a while, I thought I would try my hand at some photometry...

Not being impatient or anything,  I looked for a  target where I stood some chance of getting a light curve in one evening. Eclipsing binaries seemed to offer just the thing...

I processed this in AstroImageJ (having tried Cmuniwin too).

It seems to compare reasonably well with some recent lightcurves on AAVSO...

Not sure if this constitues some valid data for the database, as I used an imaging Luminance filter (IR and UV cut). In any case I enjoyed the learning experience!

Ultimate aim  is to do some concurrent photometry on spectroscopy targets. To this end, I am trying the photometry now with my CMOS camera to see how results compare. First session looked promising but it was clouded out early on...

Well done Kevin! Your data look very good - nice and tight.

I hope this will be the first of many....

Great light curve for a first attempt.

CMOS cameras are fine for photometry, I've been using an ASI1600MM-C for a few years with good results.
