2015/16, Report no.9: Jupiter on the eve of the Juno mission

This is a summary of the state of Jupiter’s atmospheric features in June, 2016, just before the Juno spacecraft enters orbit around the planet.

It gives more general background than usual, for the benefit of readers who are not very familiar with the planet’s idiosyncrasies.

For regular aficionados, the new items in this report are:

–The NEB expansion has regressed, but the methane-dark wave pattern is maintained;

–The SEB following the GRS has become quiescent, with no new plumes for several weeks;

–Oval BA has been getting redder throughout the apparition.
