The BAA Radio Astronomy Group will be holding its 2012 General Meeting
on Saturday 27th October at the National Space Centre, Leicester, LE4
5NS. Last year's event was very successful with tickets selling out
several weeks beforehand. The NSC provides twice the seating space
but ticket sales are currently running in excess of three times last
year's volume and prior booking is advised.

Our keynote speakers will be Prof Andrew Lyne (Jodrell Bank Centre for
Astrophysics Pulsar Team) who will talk on "Using pulsars as cosmic
clocks in the study of gravitational theories" and Dr Chris North
(Cardiff University School of Physics and Astronomy & co-presenter for
The Sky at Night) who will talk on "Astronomy at Mega Megahertz".

Supporting papers will cover topics such as constructing a radio
telescope interferometer, receiving hydrogen line emissions with
budget receivers, meteor scatter reception for beginners, low-cost
data logging solutions and a review of the most interesting solar
disturbances to the ionosphere and magnetosphere during the past year.
Two younger members will be presenting papers on different aspects of
radio astronomy.

We also have four times as much space for demonstrations of hardware
and a variety of posters on various aspects of amateur radio
astronomy, plus trade stands.

Further details of the ten presentations currently scheduled for the
day and the Booking Form can be found on the BAA RAG website.
Tickets are £15 (£12 for BAA members) and include a buffet lunch,
afternoon tea, free admission to the NSC and free parking.
Tickets can be purchased via the BAA office.
