Hi Dennis,

Well done - OK by me. If you mean the Astrometrica/Focas/Kphot/COBS approach to
measuring CCD mags then I am willing to work up a presentation on that (first having
done some further experiments to prove it works - initially looks OK).

Regards

Subject: [BAA Comets] 2013 MEETING

Hello all,
The BAA Comet Section is now planning to hold a meeting with with a theme of "Comet
Observing"
during 2013. We are provisionally suggesting the following venue and date. 2013 May
18 in
Northampton at The Humfrey Rooms. We would like members to indicate with a simple
reply to this
discussion group as to whether this suggested date and venue are suitable. Part of
our thinking
behind this suggestion is that the venue is central and accessible, the time of year
means no dark
time travelling, the phase of the Moon is 1st quarter. Also by that time we will have
already seen
the perihelion passage of C/2011 L4 PanStarrs ( a good chance for members to share
their
observations) and we will be anticipating the approach of C/2012 S1 ISON . This a
very exciting
period to be a comet observer, who knows what we will see during 2013?

Also if anyone would like to suggest preferred speakers( amateur or professional) or
observationally
related subjects to be covered then we would like to hear those suggestions.

Following on from discussions at the joint Comet/ARPS meeting held at Milton Keynes
earlier this
month we are actively working on a new Section approach to CCD comet photometry and
we would hope to
be in a position to relay news of this to the meeting.

Another reason for asking for simple replies this discussion group is for us to
establish how many
members actively read these posts, so if you can reply please do so.

Best wishes and clear skies
Denis Buczynski
Secretary Comet Section
British Astronomical Association
