Sorry Denis, I can't make that particular weekend. Venue sounds good.
Can someone promote the use of the subsidised robotic telescope facilities
for cometary work as described here:
http://www.britastro.org/robotscope/

Thanks,
Richard

Subject: [BAA Comets] 2013 MEETING

> Hello all,
> The BAA Comet Section is now planning to hold a meeting with with a theme
> of "Comet Observing"
> during 2013. We are provisionally suggesting the following venue and date.
> 2013 May 18 in
> Northampton at The Humfrey Rooms. We would like members to indicate with a
> simple reply to this
> discussion group as to whether this suggested date and venue are suitable.
> Part of our thinking
> behind this suggestion is that the venue is central and accessible, the
> time of year means no dark
> time travelling, the phase of the Moon is 1st quarter. Also by that time we
> will have already seen
> the perihelion passage of C/2011 L4 PanStarrs ( a good chance for members
> to share their
> observations) and we will be anticipating the approach of C/2012 S1 ISON .
> This a very exciting
> period to be a comet observer, who knows what we will see during 2013?
>
> Also if anyone would like to suggest preferred speakers( amateur or
> professional) or observationally
> related subjects to be covered then we would like to hear those
> suggestions.
>
> Following on from discussions at the joint Comet/ARPS meeting held at
> Milton Keynes earlier this
> month we are actively working on a new Section approach to CCD comet
> photometry and we would hope to
> be in a position to relay news of this to the meeting.
>
> Another reason for asking for simple replies this discussion group is for
> us to establish how many
> members actively read these posts, so if you can reply please do so.
