Terry and I were chatting this morning. The V band data I was getting from SSO showed it about to kick off..

Excellent work Tony

Wow, excellent Tony. I've just got back in from some visual observations: I just
managed to see it N/E at 1745 hrs (Norfolk, UK) before fully dark. Got the
scopes on it (12” Mewlon and 4” Apo) whereupon a bit of cloud came over. Cloud
cleared: very bright and large in Mewlon at x89 (40mm Pentax). Tried 56mm 2”
Plossl (x64) – preferred Pentax (x89). Very tiny stellar core, large outer halo
– about twice as extended in SSE direction. Checked it’s visual N/E view which
was very obvious in a fully dark sky now (1845) it forming an equilateral
triangle with Nu and 10 Tauri. I reckon Nu was a tad brighter but it was about
the same brightness as 10 Tauri, the latter being mag 4.3. Decided to sketch now
and thin cloud started moving over so waited. This got progressively thicker
until I gave up about 1930 hours but did enjoy watching it move through the
field stars during this period.

Andrew
