John Chuter

I have been a BAA member for well over 30 years. Became interested in astronomy when aged about seven. Somehow I got to read 'The Larousse Encyclopaedia of Astronomy' and became fascinated by the huge numbers involved. Since then my hobby has had to cope with all the usual life events, such as getting qualifications, getting a job, getting married, begetting children, etc. It's only really when I managed to get slightly early retirement from teaching that I had the time to concentrate more fully on my hobby. I could go on to regale you with all the things I now do but amongst these I am Joint Archivist of the BAA.

I also write the 'From the Journals' piece in the Journal where I highlight things of interest from issues of the Journal since it's introduction in 1890.
