I started my lifelong astronomy interest back in the mid 1950s.Home then was rural & above 800 ft 'oop in't east Pennine hills with dark sky views over the moors. My first two comets were n/e with C/1956 R1 Arend Roland and C/1957 P1 Mrkos.Comets, meteors, aurora and NLC are prime interests (plus the history of astronomy).Joined the BAA in 1975 till 85 then (as with many of us other life pressures etc took over) I let my membership lapse. I kept in touch with my astro mates over the next decade and re-joined the BAA in 1996 and I'm still here in 2019
