Stephen Piatkowski

I have a background in engineering, and financial risk.  My interest in astronomy, like so many, started when I was very young and was given a small refractor as a Christmas present.  Later, in the 1980s, I acquired a beautiful Newtonian reflector, built by Rob Miller when he was living in Luton and having a 10" David Hinds primary.  Although initially used visually, I tried astrophotography with film.  Now that CCD technology has come on, I am still using the same scope with a QSI 690 CCD - and I have recently supplemented this with a Tak FC100DF with full electronic control capability.  I enjoy outreach; currently I'm organising the speakers for the Guildford Astro Soc; and I want to extend my astrophotography to provide actual science value.
